In the grand scheme of things.

Currently reading:
Suite Française by Irène Némirovsky.
I don’t usually buy books since my sister takes care of that, but I randomly bought this one off the shelf a few weeks ago.
When I got home, I looked at this little post-it note I stuck up more than a year ago, reminding myself to check out this very book.
The things I forget.
Thanks, awesome sub-conscience.

Something new:
Law can be a tedious and boring field to work in, but sometimes you hear a story or two that’ll make you change your mind.
There’s a guy at work who looks like he’s ready to retire any minute now, even though he wouldn’t be able to remember to with that disappearing memory of his…
Anyhow, he explained to me the other day, how a bunch of seemingly useless documents I showed him were more significant than the trash I thought they were.
Apparently, those papers were part of a case involving a few crooks, who created companies that posed as banks, but were really involved in a good old-fashioned drug trade.
While their asses were busted for drugs, the lawyers who brought them down and even the auditors who were told to check up on the company, received numerous death threats from anonymous callers.
As much as I’d like to say there was a huge shoot-up and everyone died, they all lived to tell the tale and the bad guys got thrown into cells.
Moral of the story?
Lawyers can be heartless, arrogant and greedy, but they’re fighting on the right side.
Usually.

Injuries:
One mysterious cut.
Life is so cruel.

Chocolates:
Too many today.
Someone at work, whose house is overflowing with chocolates, brought heaps in for us.
By the way, most of the staff are women…

Nice thoughts:
Baci chocolates told me:

Being deeply loved by someone gives you strength; loving someone deeply gives you courage“.

I’ve repeated that so many times today!
I like how it’s repeated in multiple languages, so if a line fails in English, just seduce someone in the sexy foreign way.

It beats my first one:

The more I love you my darling, the more you flee from me“.

How fucking depressing.

But my friend’s one was interesting:

For every woman there is a seducer. Her happiness lies in her meeting him“.

That’s a thought.
