I had no idea where that came from
so I smiled back and replied,

But too bad
they’re not always pretty
esp. when it gets ugly with complete strangers.

if it can happen to anyone
why’s it so hard to deal
with the worse times?
why’s it so hard to look people in the eye
& not crumble with every shock?
